MCYU Curiosity Crawl 2019

MCYU Curiosity Crawl. A day to Question, Discover, Create

Sunday, March 3rd, 2019

12:30pm – 4:30pm

Burke Science Building on McMaster University’s Main Campus

$5 per child (adults are free), Snack Included!

MCYU’S CURIOSITY CRAWL is MCYU’s annual, signature event. A day to Question, Discover, Create! On this day our MCYU in the City workshops run simultaneously at one time!

Children and youth have the opportunity to take part in up to 3 workshops in one day! It’s a fun event for the whole family! Watch the video below to see our event from last year.

At MCYU it is important to us that our programs remain accessible to ALL. Our Family Lectures and MCYU in the City Workshops will continue to be free.

We have decided to start charging a minimal fee of $5 per child & youth for admission to Curiosity Crawl (this $5 includes a free snack and MCYU bag). Last year the interest in Curiosity Crawl from the community grew substantially and the event ‘sold out’ quickly.  There was a large waiting list and also a fair number of people who didn’t end up showing up on the day of the event. Our hope with charging $5 per child & youth this year is that it will offset some of the costs of the event and also ensure that those who register will attend.

If you are able and feel inclined to support our free programs (MCYU Family Lectures, MCYU in the City Workshops) beyond the $5 we are asking per child for the attendance at Curiosity Crawl, you can make a donation by clicking here. Remember, your generous donations helps to keep the majority of our programming free and accessible to ALL across the Greater Hamilton Area.

Already Registered? Here’s Some Helpful Information You’ll Need For The Day Of The Event

PARKING: If you are driving, please park in PARKING LOT I. We will be able to provide you with a parking voucher which will discount your parking.

SNACK INCLUDED – We will be providing a granola bar, juice box and piece of fruit for a snack for each child. If you anticipate your child needing more food throughout the day, please pack accordingly

BRING A WATER BOTTLE. Help us cut back on creating waste from water bottles and bring a reusable water bottle for the day

REGISTRATION/CHECK IN (Burke Science Building, Room 120): Check In starts at 12:30pm. Upon checking in, you will be given a map and bracelets for the workshops you have signed up for

PARENT WAITING ROOM: Parents who do not want to sit in on the workshop are welcome to hang out in the Registration room (Room 120 in the Burke Science Building). We ask that you meet your child at the end of the workshop to help them get to their next destination. There will be volunteers around to help guide people but we will not be providing one on one supervision.

PARENTAL SUPERVISION: Parents are required to stay on site with their children. MCYU staff and volunteers are trained to assist children & youth but cannot assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of children left unattended in the building. MCYU policies and services are designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment for customers of all ages but parents need to use the same caution with their children on McMaster’s campus as they would in any other public setting. Responsibility for the welfare and the behaviour of children at MCYU’s Curiosity Crawl ultimately rests with the parent/legal guardian or an assigned caregiver. MCYU recognizes the following terms as stipulated in the Ontario Child and Family Services Act (CFSA)with regard to the supervision of children:
