Welcome to the McMaster Children & Youth University

MCYU delivers FREE programming for children and youth ages 7-14 in all areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM).

All of our programs are developed around our guiding philosophy, QUESTION – DISCOVER – CREATE™.

QUESTION the world around you, DISCOVER your potential, and CREATE a brighter future.

Our programs bridge the gap between the university and the wider Hamilton community by sharing the exciting research happening at McMaster University in a way that is fun and accessible to ALL children and youth. Our goal is to empower and academically prepare youth, especially those at a socioeconomic disadvantage, to aspire to university education in subject areas such as science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

Youth, families and community agencies can join us on-campus at our Family Lecture Series presented by University Professors. Lectures are held on the fourth Saturday of every month from 11am-12pm. Families can also access our programs out in the community at one of our MCYU in the City Workshops led by highly trained McMaster University Students.

"I was afraid donors would think I was too immature and young to be dealing with their funds... However, I have realized that young and old can make the same impact." Our latest story on our blog is an interview with 14 year old philanthropist Aarushi. mcyu.ca/youth-spotlight-meet-aarushi/... See MoreSee Less

100 years ago, a student named Hazel Layden at Dundas Central school died in the 1918 flu pandemic. A century later, @McMasterCYU teamed up with Rob Bell's grade 5/6 class to find out who she was. | @hwdsb @dundasmuseum
